We started out buying these drives in about 2014 say from a company called mudskipper in the USA. I modified some of them myself, but use them and as the season went on, I’d sell them. That went on for a few years. When Kelly and I got married, Kelly was the one that pushed me to turn this into a business. So we took those steps together.
Then Mr. Trump became president of the United States he threw that extra tariff on the aluminum products. The prices almost doubled. It seemed overnight with shipping and the additional tariff, the exchange rate only went down slightly. I had one of my orders shipped to me and they must have forgotten to change the packaging. I’d realized, I’ve been overpaying severely for my products. I found a sales rep from the manufacturer and the rest is history.
In our first year we sold about 23 drives. I realized that our business model was going to work. It was it was easy work for me and I enjoyed it. The drives came right to my door. I stored them in my shed. I made a little Facebook page and right away I was meeting people from all over the all over the country. They were coming from everywhere.
As we continue to grow, I hope that my commitment to personal service will be one of the things that will help build this company.
